Internet articles I found interesting last week (6th to 13th June)

I’ve been ill with COVID for a week and writing was just not on the cards. However, here are some of the subjects I became fascinated with.

Elizabeth Wilkinson

Elizabeth Wilkinson was a bare Knuckle boxer in the 1700s. She fought usually bare fisted but could fight with daggers or sabres.

Elizabeth or “The Championess” as she was known, also fought in mixed-pair bouts with her husband.

Ghost Ships

So I went into a deep dive on ghost ships. I find the thought of empty hulks just pulled around the currents just creepy. This is probably why I had one in the first scene of the Trackless Depths.

The first one isn’t anything creepy but more the sheer endurance of an abandoned ship.

The Baychimo trapped in ice

The Baychimo was abandoned in trapped ice in 1932 only to still be sighted in 1969. Read the full article here

Jenny was found by a Whaling ship, frozen in ice in 1840. It’s logs last entry was 1823.

All the crew on board were found frozen solid and the captain at his desk. The last entry noted they had ran out of food and he was the only one left alive.

However the account is dubious and contested. Read about it here

Jade Burial Suits

This just fascinates me and i’m tempted to use one in Trackless one day. Check out the full article here
